Politics and You

This first section about the gender gap in political representation will hopefully make you reflect on the role you could play in that field.

You may have a desire to get involved, to have some influence, to address some of the changes you feel are essential to improve the lives of citizens. Section 2 will provide you with material to help you perform a more in-depth analysis on this possibility.

Politics is about wanting to make a difference. One reason people enter politics is to participate in decision-making on public policy that has an impact on society in a broad and sustained way. You will have your own reasons for choosing politics.

Here are a few stories of triumph from some women who have been or are still elected representatives. These women illustrate how rewarding politics can be beyond the difficulties, challenges and barriers.
